I'd lived in the region for years before finding out about them in the companion book to Jacob Bronowski's BBC series The Ascent of Man. I was reminded of it all by this headline yesterday: Budget Cuts Threaten a Hidden Treasure in Watts. Part and parcel to the threat is that few Angelinos visit the Towers; when people come, they're usually foreign tourists.?
